THE PROPERTY

Casa and Apartments Vino y Sol are located on a beautifully landscaped 2100 square meter eco-friendly property.  The property is completely surrounded by a tall stone wall and each of the units--the house and the three apartments--are sited in such a way to preserve privacy but also maintain a sense of community. Reflecting our strong ties to Greece, the garden is home to possibly the only producing olive trees in the city, as well as lemon, lime, tangerine, peach and orange.  The collection of impressive cacti never let you forget that you are in central Mexico!  

Given the scarce water and abundant sun in this area, we incorporated as many water and energy conservation strategies on the property as possible.  We built a number of retaining walls to try to keep as much rainwater from draining away from the property as possible.  The house kitchen sink and dishwasher discharge through a filter to water the flowerbeds behind the dining area. The house uses hot water that is heated by solar panels which then flows through a boiler which heats it further if necessary.  The property is completely organic, and several mature trees provide shade and sanctuary to a vibrant bird population. There is a compost pile down by the high crafted stone wall that encircles the property for all to use to dispose of organic waste.   A hand laid river stone driveway leads to ample, secure off-street parking.
